Vallejo Teen ID'd As Motorcyclist Killed In American Canyon Crash

The Solano County teen was riding a Honda motorcycle Sunday night when he collided with an Acura Integra on Flosden Road, authorities said.

AMERICAN CANYON, CA — A motorcyclist killed in a collision with a car Sunday night in American Canyon was identified by the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner's Officer as Ivan Joaquin Ledesma, 17, of Vallejo.

American Canyon police officers and American Canyon Fire Department paramedics responded to reports at 9:22 p.m. Sunday of a majory injury traffic collision on Flosden Road near Daniel Drive. As they arrived at the scene south of American Canyon Road near Via Bellagio, they found the motorcyclist now identified as Ledesma down in the roadway, suffering from major injuries, according to a news release about the incident.

The driver of the other vehicle, an Acura Integra sedan, remained at the scene and was not injured, police said in the news release.

Ledesma was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, where he died from his injuries.

Flosden Road was closed for more than five hours as the fatal collision was investigated.

The preliminary police investigation indicated Ledesma was traveling southbound on Flosden when his Honda sport bike collided with the passenger side of the Integra, which was turning westbound onto Daniel Drive from northbound Flosden.

Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the collsion.

The investigation was continuing Tuesday, according to American Canyon police Chief Oscar Ortiz, who told Bay City News Service that officers are looking into whether Ledesma may have been speeding.

Ledesma's mother and father, who live near the Vallejo-American Canyon border, came upon the crash scene, Ortiz said.

Ledesma was pronounced deceased at 10:13 p.m. Sunday at the hospital in Napa, according to the sheriff-coroner's office.
