Napa Man Dies In Fall From Tree Near St. Helena

The 49-year-old Napa man was doing tree removal when he fell 60 feet, according to Cal/OSHA.

ST. HELENA, CA — State officials are investigating a fatality that occurred Friday near St. Helena when a Napa man fell to his death while doing tree removal work.

The deceased was identified as Jesus Tamayo Perez, a 49-year-old man who lived in Napa, according to the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office.

Cal/OSHA was notified of the June 12 incident, and said Perez fell from a tree that was 60 feet off the ground at a property at 2825 St. Helena Highway North.

Perez died from severe blunt impact injury suffered in the fall reported at 12:30 p.m. June 12, according to Henry Wofford, spokesman for the sheriff-coroner's office.

Cal Fire also responded to the incident but could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

Luc Morlet owns the property where the fatal incident occurred, and said Perez was working as an independent contractor on a private residential part of the property.

"My wife Jodie and I are deeply saddened for Mr. Perez’s family and for everyone affected by this tragedy," Morlet said in an email to Patch.
