CA State Assembly District 39: Luz Rivas Wins Re-Election
Democratic incumbent Luz Rivas faced off against Republican Ricardo Benitez.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — Democratic incumbent Luz Maria Rivas (D-CA) will continue to represent California State Assembly District 39 after defeating Ricardo Benitez. Associated Press called the race Wednesday morning, as Rivas held 73.5 percent of the votes with 112,086 votes counted.
District 39 contains North Hollywood, Tujunga, Sylmar, Sun Valley and nearby communities.

Rivas took home 77.8% of votes in the March 3 primary. Benitez came in at a distant second with 22.2% of votes, earning the right to challenge Rivas in the general election.
