Cindy Marinangel Portrays Marlene Dietrich in a Stellar Performance at the Brickhouse
A solo performance about one of the highest paid actresses in the 1900s
Cindy Marinangel has been performing for audiences since the age of five. The bicoastal actress and singer is a Lifetime Member of The Actors Studio (studied under Mark Rydell, Martin Landau, Ellen Burstyn and Alec Baldwin) and Chicago Second City graduate (under Stephen Colbert and Nia Vardellos), and has spent her entire life entertaining on stage and screen.
This month, Marinangel takes the stage in North Hollywood with her moving one-woman show, Marlene, a solo play about Marlene Dietrich, the legendary German actress and singer who spent her time and money helping refugees during World War ll, Set in 1960, Dietrich returns to Germany for the first time since fleeing Hitler in 1939. The play takes place in Dietrich’s dressing room, at Berlin’s Titania Palast Theatre, as she contemplates whether she should go through with her performance, ignoring threats made on her life from Nazis sympathizers who still resent her for spending so much time entertaining American soldiers during the war.
