NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — North Hollywood residents now have another choice when it comes to finding a COVID-19 vaccine near them. Retail giant Walmart announced just days ago that they are now administering vaccines at 137 of its California pharmacies — including the Burbank location at 1301 N Victory Pl.

Included in the 137 locations are Sam's Club and Walmart Neighborhood Market stores.
Appointments are being scheduled now as part of the Golden State vaccination effort. Walmart has an online scheduler. Appointments at participating Sam's Club stores can be made here.

"In addition to appointments, the scheduler will provide a digital reminder when it is time to return for the second vaccine, helping ensure customers receive their second dose in the timeframe required," Walmart said in a news release. "You do not have to be a member of Sam's Club to sign-up for an appointment. Appointments are available seven days a week, but exact timing will vary based on local availability of the vaccine."

The announcement from Walmart comes after Congressman Raul Ruiz (CA-36), a medical doctor, wrote a Feb. 26 letter to President and CEO Doug McMillon asking the retail chief to expand the number of states in which his company was offering COVID-19 vaccines and to prioritize locations in the hardest hit, highest risk underserved communities.

"This is a victory for our communities and great progress in our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic," Ruiz said. "This will aid our work to quickly and safely end this pandemic, and I will continue my aggressive advocacy for more vaccines for my constituents."

The vaccine doses are being procured through the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, according to the retailer.

In a March 26 update, Walmart said it was working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as state and local officials "to be thoughtful and purposeful in cases of limited vaccine allocation. This way, we can have the best impact possible in our 5,000+ Walmart and Sam's Club locations."
