Dodger Pitchers, Catchers Report to Spring Training

Los Angeles Dodger pitchers and catchers reported to spring training in Glendale, Arizona today.

The 23 pitchers and four catchers on the 40-man major league roster and nine non-roster pitchers and two catchers invited to the major league team's spring training camp will undergo physicals Tuesday and have their first workout Wednesday.

The rest of the roster is scheduled to report Monday and hold its first workout the following day.

Today mark's the team's quest for their first World Series title since 1988, following back-to-back World Series losses in 2017 and 2018.

The Dodgers will play their first spring training game Feb. 23 against a Chicago White Sox split squad at the Camelback Ranch facility they share with the White Sox; play in Southern California for the first time March 24 in a Freeway Series game at Angel Stadium against the Angels; play at Dodger Stadium for the first time in 2019 on March 26 to conclude the Freeway Series and open the regular season March 28 against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers have never won three consecutive National League pennants.

The Dodgers highest-profile transaction since their 2018 season ended with a five-game loss in the World Series to the Boston Red Sox was the trade of outfielders Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp, left-handed pitcher Alex Wood and catcher/infielder Kyle Farmer to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for the subsequently released right-handed pitcher Homer Bailey and two minor leaguers.

The Dodgers also re-acquired catcher Russell Martin, who had played for them from 2006-2010; signed free-agent signed outfielder A.J. Pollock and reliever Joe Kelly; and obtained right-handed reliever Jaime Schultz from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Three Dodgers who were free agents opted to sign with other teams: catcher Yasmani Grandal went to the Milwaukee Brewers; second baseman Brian Dozier to the Washington Nationals; and pitcher Daniel Hudson to the Los Angeles Angels.
