DUI Checkpoint In North Hollywood Scheduled For Sunday Night

Officers will be posted in the area from 5 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday morning.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — Los Angeles Police Department will hold a series of DUI/Drivers License checkpoints this weekend, and one of the stops will be located in North Hollywood. Officers will be posted in the area from 5 p.m. Sunday night until 1 a.m. Monday morning.

An exact location of the checkpoint wasn't available.

LAPD officers will be searching for signs of alcohol and/or other drug impairment, and checking drivers for valid licenses. The department also warned drivers that the DUI category includes more than just alcohol.

"If you take prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, you might be impaired enough to get a DUI," LAPD said. "Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs, and can result in a DUI."

LAPD offered the following tips for drivers to stay safe on the roads.

  • See someone who is clearly impaired try and drive? Take the keys and help them make other arrangements to find a sober way home.
  • Report drunk drivers – Call 911.
  • Hosting a party? Offer nonalcoholic drinks. Monitor who is drinking and how they are getting home.

Funding for the DUI checkpoints comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
