In the middle of a neighborhood filled with furniture and auto parts warehouses sits an importing business specializing on European cheeses, olive oil, pastries and plenty of charcuterie.
Located at 6900 Beck Ave., wholesaler Epicure Imports is doing something on Friday and Saturday that it only does a handful times of a year: open to the public.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and between 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, everyone is invited to stock up on gourmet goods shipped from France, Italy and other neighboring countries.
The main checkout line wrapped around several aisles, but that didn't stop Lynn Warnesky from stocking up on plenty of French sparkling lemonade.
A food buyer for Silver Lake Liquor Shop, she said it's nice to get out and see goods in person rather than always ordering online.
"There's only so much you can get from shopping on an online catalogue, you don't really get to see pictures of packaging," Warnesky said. "Especially in retail, packaging is half the sale for us. If the packaging is beautiful and it tastes great, you've got a great product that you can sell."
