UPDATE: L.A. Valley College Lockdown Lifted, No Gunman Found

Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen was placed on lockdown and evacuated today after a man called the campus and made an unspecified threat, but a search of the college failed to turn up a suspect.

Officers and deputies were sent to the college in the 5800 block of Fulton Avenue about 9:15 a.m. after a campus operator received the telephoned threat, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Nicole Nishida.

The college was on its last day of final exams, but when the lockdown was imposed, college officials canceled tests for the afternoon and said the campus would be closed for the remainder of the day.

The lockdown was lifted shortly after 2 p.m. following a search of the campus, but the school remained closed.

Students whose tests were canceled will be contacted to have the exams rescheduled, according to the college.

According to an unconfirmed report, a woman told authorities that the suspect, with whom she had a relationship, was going to the campus with weapons.

When asked if investigators had any leads on the suspect, Nishida said only, "We have an ongoing investigation."
