Homes Evacuated After Gas Leak In Burbank

Traffic was routed away from the area as crews worked to fix the leak.

BURBANK, CA — A natural gas leak caused multiple homes to be temporarily evacuated on Tuesday afternoon. The leak was reported around 12:05 p.m. near Clark Avenue and Kenwood Street, a few blocks away from Burbank Fire Department Station 12.

Burbank Police Department alerted nearby residents to the leak on Twitter.

"Burbank Police are assisting with a reported gas leak in the area of Clark Ave. and Kenwood St," the department wrote. "Nearby homes have been evacuated as a precaution and streets are being closed in the surrounding neighborhood to allow the Gas Company to work. Thank you for your patience."

Traffic was routed away from the area while crews worked on the leak. A cause of the leak wasn't immediately known.
