Human Trafficking in California

How Can We Stop this Human Rights Violation?

The Youth for Human Rights International California Chapter is holding a seminar, “Human Trafficking -- Voices from the Streets”. The speakers include Human Trafficking Specialist, Officer Brian White of the LAPD Hollywood Division and Ms. Andromeda Edison, the President of Youth for Human Rights of California.

“Human trafficking IS modern day slavery.” Says Ms. Edison. “Be prepared to have your understanding shattered of what Human Trafficking is and who it affects.”
The seminar is on Saturday, 20 July hosted by the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles at 4810 West Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. Networking and complimentary brunch begin at 10 AM and the program is from 11 to 1.
"As Scientologists we are very committed to human rights for all.", explains Damian Kevitt, the New Civilization Director of the Church of Scientology Los Angeles. "Our educational programs and activities championing human rights can be found all over the world. Our dedication is inspired by the words of L. Ron Hubbard that 'Human rights must be made a fact, not an idealistic dream'. The Creed of our Church supports the belief that as an immortal spiritual being, all men of whatever race, color or creed are created with inalienable equal rights. As such, we are proud to host Youth for Human Rights of Southern California, for a seminar that addresses such a vital and important human rights topic."
YOUTH FOR HUMAN RIGHTS INTERNATIONAL was founded in 2001 by Dr. Mary Shuttleworth, an educator born and raised in apartheid South Africa, where she witnessed firsthand the lack of basic human rights.
The purpose of YHRI is to teach youth about human rights, specifically the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and inspire them to become advocates for tolerance and peace. YHRI has now grown into a global movement, including hundreds of groups, clubs and chapters around the world.
The Youth for Human Rights educational materials include the UNITED music video—a street-savvy, multi-ethnic, anti-bullying message that has captured the imagination of people around the world. Included are 30 short public service message videos depicting the 30 Articles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. www.youthforhumanrights.org/wh...
