Mmmm...Porto's Bakery Is Coming To The West Valley
LA's famed Cuban bakery has plans to open a sixth shop in the San Fernando Valley.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Get your elastic waistbands ready: Porto’s Bakery and Cafe is reportedly coming to Northridge.
The famed LA Bakery is looking to open its sixth location in the Northridge Fashion Center’s former Sears Auto Center, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. Porto’s is apparently still in negotiations with the landlord, however.
“We are not 100% positive about the exact property just yet; however, I can confirm that our next location will be in Northridge,” Raul Porto, president of Porto’s Bakery, told the newspaper.
An LA staple, Porto’s Bakery opened up in 1976 on Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park, and over the years, it slowly opened up locations in Glendale, Burbank, Buena Park, Downey and recently in West Covina.

According to the company, Rosa Porto sold pastries in her native Cuba but she immigrated to California with the clothes on her back after the country fell to communism. She began selling pastries from her kitchen, and her treats quickly grew so popular that she opened the Sunset Boulevard bakery.
Porto’s Bakery is a family business, and it’s known for its potato balls and flakey pastries. Fans are known to drive for miles and line up outside the building for Porto’s tempting treats.
