Passenger Killed When Motorcycle Slams Cement Truck

The North Hollywood woman, 53, was riding on the back; her companion was taken to the hospital.

A motorcycle passenger was killed today in a collision with a cement truck in North Hollywood, authorities said.

The man operating the motorcycle was also injured in the crash, which occurred about 8:30 a.m. in the 10900 block of West Huston Street, near the intersection of Vineland Avenue, Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.

The passenger, identified by the coroner’s office as 53-year-old Laura Diamond of North Hollywood, made contact with the truck as both the motorcycle and mixer were headed south on Huston Street, according to an officer at the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division, who said all information was preliminary.

Diamond was pulled beneath the truck and run over by one of the its rear wheels, the officer said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle’s operator was taken to a hospital, but an update on his condition was not available tonight.

The truck’s driver was uninjured and no one was cited or arrested, police said.
