Pileup Shuts Down Southbound 170 Freeway In North Hollywood

A multi-vehicle crash forced the closure of the southbound lanes of the Hollywood (170) Freeway Tuesday morning.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A pileup involving multi-vehicles shut down a stretch of the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood Tuesday morning.

The early morning crash shut down the southbound lanes of the freeway for nearly two hours, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. near the Burbank Boulevard exit. All lanes were stopped to allow Los Angeles firefighters to reach the scene.

Two southbound lanes were opened at about 6:30 a.m., according to the CHP.

It was unclear if anyone was injured, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area Tuesday morning because traffic was backed up for miles.
