NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man threatening to jump onto the Hollywood Freeway on Sunday afternoon was eventually talked down after nearly two hours. California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene around 2:20 p.m. and shut traffic down in both directions while authorities negotiated with the man.

The man was initially spotted hanging onto a fence above the southbound 101 freeway. Once the freeway was shut down, Los Angeles Fire Department laid out a crash cushion beneath the underpass as added protection.

Thankfully, the man was convinced to come down around 4:15 p.m. and taken to a hospital for an evaluation, according to CHP. The SigAlert was cancelled about 10 minutes later and traffic returned to normal.
