What's Up: 'Awake and Sing,' Help a Soldier and More

2: LA's newest theatrical dance company premiere's "Anonymous" at El Portal Theatre, November 1-3, 2013. Friday 8pm, Saturday 2 & 8pm, Sunday 7pm

If you were in a room full of strangers and were confident that your story would remain confidential, what personal story would you share? Escape Artists' production of Anonymous engages with the dynamic between the self and the community; between vulnerable transparency and the world's critique. Through the language of dance, we explore the individual's predominately solitary journey toward freedom, love and creation of community. 

3: There's an opportunity this weekend to donate to our serving soldiers. Donations and volunteers are sought for putting together care boxes--an effort known as Thank a Soldier. The volunteer event is happening Saturday 401 S. First St. in Burbank. Click here for more info. 

4: Alfred Johnson opens for Severin Browne's First Friday show at Kulak's Woodshed. LA-based singer/songwriter/keyboardist Alfred Johnson co-wrote with Rickie Lee Jones on her 1979 Platinum Grammy Award winning premiere album containing the hit single, “CHUCK E’s IN LOVE.”
