Woman Who Allegedly Set Husband's Bed On Fire Arrested In Burbank
A 51-year-old Burbank woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly lighting the bed on fire with her husband in it.
BURBANK, CA — Police arrested a Burbank woman accused of lighting her husband's bed on fire as he lay in bed Saturday evening.
The Burbank Police Department on Monday announced the arrest of Maria Guadalupe Urena-Escamilla, 51, on suspicion of attempted murder. According to police, she tried to kill her husband following an argument at their home 1900 block of West Victory Boulevard. The couple's child was inside the home when the attack occurred.
Officers were called to the home at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, and they arrived to find a "frantic" man waiting for the outside. According to investigators, the couple was arguing when Urena-Escamilla threatened to kill her husband.

"As the victim lay in bed, the suspect used a flammable device and lit the bed on fire," the department said. "The victim was able to escape unharmed and called 911. "
Firefighters put out the flames before the blaze spread outside the home, and no one was injured.

An investigation was opened by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Families, according to police.
Urena-Escamilla is being held in lieu of $2 million bail, jail records show.
