Dub Step, Fundraiser for Novato Theater and a Walk on Deer Island

Also on Friday, John Nielsen, a pianist, guitarist, songwriter and recording artist, is giving a free concert at the Novato Unified Methodist Church. The show will feature original instrumental pieces of jazz, classical, folk and rock, and travels widely for his music. Concert starts at 8pm. Refreshments will be served. Â
On Saturday, it’s the annual Night of Gifting, a fundraiser that raises money for local organizations. This year, the event raises money for the Downtown Novato Theater. Enjoy tasty bites and drinks from Chianti Cucina, Rickey’s, Muscio's, Las Guitarras, Hopmonk Tavern, Left Coast Depot and  Teeny Cakes. There will also be music and live performances by Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. 6-9pm at Novato City Hall. Tickets $50.
Also on Saturday, hear from Lynn Henriksen, author of Tell Tale Souls: Writing the Mother Memoir speaks about what it takes to write a memoir. Henriksen has developed a unique method meant to demystify the memoir writing process and gives writers tips for creating true and telling tales. 2pm. Free.

Spend Veterans’ Day taking a nature walk on Deer Island with a Marin County Parks ranger. Stroll through the oak forests and open meadows and get a view of the marshland. 10am. Free.
