Novato Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

The robbery occurred Jan. 3 at the Novato Wells Fargo Bank on Nave Drive.

NOVATO, CA ? Cooperation with allied agencies helped Marin authorities locate a Central Valley man sought in connection with a Novato bank robbery, police said.

Tracey Drew Jr., 36 of Sacramento, was arrested by San Francisco authorities Jan. 4 in connection with a separate attempted bank robbery, police said.

Drew had been wanted by authorities in other locations in connection with several violent felonies, police said.

Officers at around 2 p.m. Jan. 3 responded to the Wells Fargo Bank at 5820 Nave Dr. on the report of a robbery, but the suspect fled before the officers arrived, police said.

Investigators determined the suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the teller before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction with an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

The NPD?s Investigations Unit distributed a photo of the suspect taken from surveillance video of the robbery to agencies statewide

Photos taken from surveillance cameras distributed by Novato police to allied agencies statewide appeared to match a suspect in two San Francisco robberies that occurred just hours after the Novato robbery, police said.

Sacramento police alerted local authorities that Drew was the likely suspect, according to police.

?The Novato Police Department would like to thank our allied agencies for assistance in identifying and arresting a dangerous person,? police said in a statement.
