In previous years, a decorated train ran in regular service during December so passengers could drop off gifts onboard the train. This year, the event is designed to be COVID-safe.

The Holiday Express will be at the Hamilton SMART Station from 3-5 p.m. Saturday and will be a stationary decorated train and drive-thru toy drop-off event. Donors are invited to drive-thru to drop off their donations. Families wearing masks and socially distancing can also walk through the decorated train.

"Please go shopping today for a gift for a child and spread some holiday magic this year," said Stephanie Williams, development director for North Marin Community Services. "A stuffed animal brings comfort and kids of all ages love board games, soccer balls, LEGOs and presents of all kinds. This year, more than ever, we need our community to come to answer the call to give."

The Novato Fire Protection District will distribute donated toys to several organizations, including North Marin Community Services. The district could not accept toys at its fire stations due to the pandemic.
