Marin Christian Academy Receives Waiver to Reopen School
Marin County Public Health Officer Approves Waiver for Marin Christian Academy to conduct In-Person Classes for K-6th Grades on Sep 8
NOVATO, CA – Sep 4, 2020
The Marin County Public Health Officer has approved the waiver application for Marin Christian Academy -- allowing them to reopen for in-person education for students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through Sixth Grade effective September 8.
MCA was one of the only private schools in Novato to apply through the waiver process. Despite recent restrictions for statewide school reopenings, Marin Christian Academy experienced record enrollment this year as it has been growing steadily for the last 5 years, according to Head of School, Christopher Mychajluk.

The school is required to comply with their school site-specific protection plan that was submitted as part of the waiver application. The guidelines also include protocols for COVID-19 related scenarios and enforcing health and safety practices of hand washing, physical distancing, appropriate face coverings, and health screenings. Marin’s guidelines follow recommendations for safe school reopening issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Public Health, and the California Department of Education.
