Novato Charter School Renewal Petition Clears Hurdle

NUSD staff recommends issuing the state-funded school's charter a five-year extension

NOVATO, CA — Novato Charter School’s renewal petition has cleared an important hurdle.

The Novato Unified School District announced Monday that its staff has recommended issuing the state-funded school’s charter a five-year extension. NCS’ existing charter expires June 30.

During the review process district staff in consultation with legal counsel identified multiple items where clarification and/or revisions to the petition were needed, the NUSD said.

But clarification and some revisions to its petition satisfied the district’s staff.

“District staff has determined that NCS has met the applicable legal standards and criteria for renewal, and will recommend that the Board approve the renewal of NCS’ Charter for a five-year term commencing July 1, 2021,” the NUSD said in a statement.
