Marin Man Missing Since 1989 Sought By Police

Police are asking for help finding a Novato man who's been missing since he went on a fishing trip in 1989.

NOVATO, CA — Police are asking for help locating a man who's been missing from Novato for more than three decades, police said Monday.

David Damron left his Novato home in January 1989 to go on a fishing trip to Mendocino County.

The next day, Damron's vehicle was found parked near state Highway 1 north of Van Damme State Park. A search was conducted but Damron was never found.

Police said some of Damron's belongings were found along the edge of the ocean and police have not been able to locate any of his relatives. He would be 75 years old now.

Damron's profile on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System can be found at https://www.namus.gov/MissingPersons/Case#/60881. Information on the database says that Damron was last seen Jan. 21, 1989, fishing near the community of Little River.

The database says he was most likely swept out to sea.
