Novato PD Promotes From Within

Sasha D'Amico has been promoted from lieutenant to captain, the Novato Police Department announced earlier this week.

NOVATO, CA — A Novato police lieutenant has been promoted to captain.

The department announced Sasha D’Amico’s promotion earlier this week.

“After a rigorous promotion process where she competed against highly qualified candidates, Sasha D’Amico was selected to serve as Captain and will oversee the Operations Division,” the Police Department said in a statement.

The Investigations Section, Patrol Bureau, Traffic Section, and the Novato Response Team will be under D’Amico’s purview.

D’Amico is a 21-year veteran of the department.

She began her NPD career in 2000 and previously has served in several roles including as Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Crisis Negotiator.

D’Amico has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from CSU Sacramento and is a graduate from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and possesses California Peace Officer Standards and Training Supervisory and Management Peace Officer Certificates.

D’Amico has been recognized as Employee of the Year (2007) and was awarded a Medal of Merit (2016).

She is a member of the San Rafael Salvation Army Advisory Board, serving community members in need throughout Marin County. D’Amico was a Girl Scout Leader and 4H Club Leader for several years.

“We are lucky to have such a great cadre of lieutenants to choose from for this selection”, Novato Police Chief Matthew McCaffrey said in a statement.

“I know that Sasha will act with the community’s best interest in mind and continue to provide leadership and mentorship to our staff as we continue to improve and provide excellent service to our community.”

D’Amico and her husband, Jerred, a retired Novato Police Officer, have four children.

“It is my great honor to continue to provide excellence service to the people of Novato and to help Chief McCaffrey lead the women and men of the Novato Police Department during this transformational period in policing,” D’Amico said in a statement.
