Quan launched his career at Pleasant Valley and has worked for the district for seven years.
“They say that once you’re a Pleasant Valley Eagle, you’re always an eagle,” Quan said in a statement.
“I am beyond thrilled to be returning to the school where I started in my new role as principal. As we emerge from this pandemic, I will be prioritizing the health and safety of our students and staff, developing meaningful connections, and providing a rigorous and quality education that meets the social-emotional and academic needs of our diverse student body.
“Over my ten years previously as a classroom teacher, I've developed a deep understanding of the lasting impact a quality teacher can have on a student's life. As principal, I am here to support the wonderful work that happens every day at Pleasant Valley to develop our students into thoughtful and socially conscious global citizens. I am excited to work with the community in the coming school year and to welcome back all of the students as we return to full in-person learning!”
Quan taught children of U.S. military service members at Fort Irwin and abroad in Taiwan. He received his M.S. in Education Administration from San Francisco State University and his B.A. from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
“We are thrilled to advance Tony into the role of principal at Pleasant Valley Elementary School,” NUSD Superintendent Kris Cosca said in a statement.
“Tony brings the right mix of vision, knowledge, skills and leadership needed for the role of principal at Pleasant Valley and here at NUSD.”
