Novato's Stafford Lake Bike Park Closed Until Further Notice

The following is an announcement from the County of Marin:

Marin County Parks has closed the popular Stafford Lake Bike Park for the rainy season and installed erosion control measures to protect the park and to minimize the time it will take to reopen the park when winter rains subside.

The end date of the closure is unknown and is dependent on the weather, said Ari Golan, County Parks Acting Superintendent.

“If we have an extended period of dry winter weather, it might be possible that we can open the pump tracks, perimeter trails or dual slalom,” Golan said. “Reopening of the progression features will take more time, depending on the impact of the rains.”

The result of a public-private partnership, the Stafford Lake Bike Park opened in August 2015 just west of Novato and became the only park of its kind in the North Bay area. Parks staff is particularly proud that families have become a staple user group on weekends and after school, with many people gathering at the kid’s plaza to socialize, watch riders, eat lunch and even assist staff with minor maintenance projects. Park usage has seen a dramatic increase month by month as the unique facility draws visitors from all over the Bay Area, California and even international locales.
