6.11.2021 NUSD Supt. Update – New Administrators, 2021-22 School Bell Schedules and School Tours

En español

Dear NUSD Family,

Find out what's happening in Novatofor free with the latest updates from Patch.

As the year winds down, I want to thank each and every one of you for all you did for our kids and community over the past two years. These are years that will be written about in history books. I appreciate everyone doing their best during a very challenging time.

One of the beautiful things about the cycle of school is that, with the close of school for the summer, there is an opportunity for a new beginning. After these two years, NUSD needs this very much. Our team has been working diligently to prepare for this and we are confident that 2021-2022 will be a great one for our kids and community. In order to succeed, this entire community will play a critical role. I believe in Novato and its ability to come together. The 2021-2022 school year will provide a great opportunity to demonstrate this.

Topics included in today’s update are:

  • New Administrative Team Members for 2021-2022
  • Bell schedules for 2021-2022
  • School Tours
  • Virtual Learning Academy

New Administrative Team Members for 2021-2022

Next year will see several new administrative team members. I want to use this opportunity to introduce some of them. They are:

Lois Standring, Assistant Superintendent Business & Operations.  Ms. Standring joined NUSD on June 1 and comes to us from the Windsor Unified School District where she has served as the Chief Business Officer since 2014.  See Press Release for more information.

Jennifer Larson, Assistant Superintendent Education Services.  Ms. Larson most recently served as Interim Assistant Superintendent Education Services and Director of Student Success. She has been with NUSD for 22 years.  See Press Release for more information.

Bell schedules for 2021-2022

NUSD is excited to start next year with a full return! As communicated earlier this week, the NUSD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution for a Full Return for the 2021-2022 School Year.  You can find that Resolution here.

School bell schedules for the 2021-2022 School Year can be found here:  https://nusd.org/school-bell-schedules/.  For those students in high school, you’ll notice the start time is now 8:30 am and not 8 am as it was in the 2019-20 school year.  AB328, passed in October 2019, requires school districts to implement schedules that ring the first-period bell no earlier than 8:30 a.m. for high schools and 8 a.m. for middle schools effective in the 2022-2023 school year. Our high schools chose to implement this change next school year as we transition into a new school year.

School Tours

Starting June 14, the majority of our schools will be hosting a tour or meeting to answer your questions about their school.  To view the schedule, please go here.
