Over 40 Local Artists to Open Their Studios to the Public

Free, self-guided art tour with demonstrations in Hamilton.

Novato Arts Center Open Studios is a bi-annual, free, self-guided art tour sponsored by the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art that takes place the first weekend of March and November from 11-4pm.

Over 40 artists in 3 buildings will open their studios to the public and exhibit original art in a variety of media. Visitors have the opportunity to watch artists at work, ask questions and purchase handmade art by local artists. To add to the festivities there will be food, wine and a variety of art demonstrations all weekend long! Interactive free demonstrations include altered book-making, watercolor techniques, stone sculpting techniques, and painting with beeswax and pastels.

The Novato Arts Center campus is located at the historic Hamilton airfield and was renovated to retain its original 1930s Spanish style architecture. Visitors can tour the three buildings, housing over 40 individual artist studios, museum gallery, art classrooms and museum store. On display now in the galleries are cartoonist Phil Frank and photographer Ken Botto. Then enjoy a meal with friends at the Beso Bistro and Wine Bar restaurant next door.
