NORTH BAY, CA — Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit has canceled commuter train service for Tuesday because of the ongoing Public Safety Power Shutoff impacts on local city traffic signal systems that cross SMART railroad tracks.

When PG&E turns the power back on, local jurisdictions will have to reactivate all traffic control systems and synchronize them with SMART railroad crossing warning lights and gates, according to SMART officials. Downed tress due to recent high winds will also need to be cleared from tracks.

SMART has canceled train service since Sunday because traffic signal systems at railroad crossings have not been functioning as a result of the shutoffs.
