The Week Ahead: Free Concert, Pension Talk and Xmas Trees for a Good Cause

On Monday, the Novato Sanitary District meets to discuss the 2013 Strategic Plan and Work Plan, an annual document that outlines priorities and focus areas for the agency. The meeting is open to the public and starts at 4pm at 500 Davidson Street.

Also on Monday, the Novato Milestones Wind Ensemble, a local concert band, is putting on a free concert at San Jose Middle School. Bring your family and friends for some great times and wonderful tunes. 7pm. If you play an instrument, take note. The group practices every Monday and is always seeking talented musicians to join.

On Tuesday, the Novato City Council will discuss endorsing the Pension Reform Act of 2014, a statewide initiative that, if passed, would amend the state constitution and allow cities to alter pensions in order to reign in pension and healthcare costs. 

Also on the budget: the council will consider spending $365,000  make improvements to the Novato Arts Center, located in Hamilton, and discuss the status of various city facilities. The meeting starts at 6:30pm.

Still need a Christmas tree? Get one from Cousins Xmas Tree Lot and the owners will donate $5 to local schools this Wednesday. Then warm up with a bite at Chianto Cucina, Las Guitarras or Finnegan’s and the restaurants will donate 15 percent of your dining bill to School Fuel, a Novato organization that raises money for local schools.
