Traditional Buckaroo Breakfast to Kick Off Novato Fourth of July
The 64th annual event begins at 7 a.m.

Novato, CA — At the very first 4th of July Buckaroo Breakfast in Novato, people were liking Ike, cheering on the real Rocky, paying 3 cents for a stamp and asking “how much is that doggie in the window?” It was 1953.
Although the Novato 4th of July Parade is an awesome local tradition in its own rite, the Buckaroo Breakfast has deeper roots, just like the historical families being celebrated at this year’s parade. The 64th annual event takes place from 7-10 a.m. Monday, July 4 at the Redwood Credit Union parking lot at 1010 Grant Ave.
As always, eager volunteers from the Presbyterian Church of Novato will serve coffee, orange juice, pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and milk to raise funds for the Novato Youth Center. Also, Rotary Books and Art Around Town will showcase patriotic art projects and kids books.

The suggested donation is $7 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for those younger than 5. Since all proceeds are benefiting the Novato Youth Center, additional donations will be encouraged.
Speaking of 1953, is there anybody reading today’s Novato Advance who attended that first Buckaroo Breakfast? Stop by the breakfast this year and tell “the Big Buckaroo,” Abram McMickin from the Presbyterian Church of Novato. While you’re there, make sure to shake hands with 2015 Novato Citizen of the Year Alan Dunham.
