Walk to End Alzheimer’s May Challenge Month Heats Up
The Alzheimer's Association has designated May Registration Challenge Month for the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

The Alzheimer’s Association has designated May Registration Challenge Month for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Events are taking place throughout May to encourage team captains, past walkers and new walkers to register for this year’s Walk.
Participants who register in May are eligible to receive a Walk to End Alzheimer’s neck gaiter, which can be used as a headband or face covering.
To earn May’s reward, individuals must do one of three things by May 31. Past team captains must reactivate their teams. Captains who already have an active team can recruit three members. And people who are not on a team can register and raise $100. As a bonus, individuals who register and raise $100 will receive a t-shirt on Walk day.

Beginning Monday, May 18, local Marin and Sonoma chapters are hosting a Back to Walk Week, with even more opportunities to have fun and win prizes. Each day, participants who achieve one goal will not only generate critical awareness about the Walk, but also receive free gifts.
All week long, Walk committee members will be sharing different ways for everyone to get back to walking and earn some great Walk swag. More about daily challenges can be found in the Sonoma-Marin Walk to End Alzheimer’s Facebook Group: facebook.com/groups/sonomamarinwalk.
In tandem, the Northern California Northern Nevada Chapter is hosting a virtual Coffee with Captains on Thursday, May 21 at 9:00 am. During this meeting, participants will hear from local Walk staff, volunteers, and other Team Captains who will share information about how to re-register for Walk, how to use the Participant Center and the Walk mobile app, and how fundraise on Facebook fundraising, along with other awesome virtual fundraising ideas. Register for this Zoom meeting at alz.org/norcal/events/coffee-with-walk-captains.
Currently, more than 650,000 people in California are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and over 1.6 million family and friends are providing care. Walk to End Alzheimer's participants make it possible for the Alzheimer's Association to advance research and provide critical programs and services to those affected by dementia in our community.
The Alzheimer’s Association is continuing to provide virtual support and education services as communities in California continue to shelter in place. To find support groups and other events for people in Northern California, visit alz.org/norcal.
