When is the First Day of School in Novato?

Of course, the calendar just turned over to August and families are smack in the middle of enjoying summer vacations. 

But, back-to-school commercials hawking new clothes are already being shown on TV and that time of year is really just around the corner. 

So, even though you are most likely still heading to the beach and pool, soaking up those rays of summer, here are some important things to know when it comes to the Novato Unified School District 2013-14 school calendar.

• First Day of School: Wednesday, Aug. 21
• Opening Day for Independent Study: 8:30 a.m. to noon at Hill Education Center
• Back to School Night: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at Olive Elementary and Lynwood (Kinder Only) Elementary Schools
• Back to School Night: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Hamilton School
• Back To School Night: 6-8  p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at Loma Verde, Lu Sutton, Rancho & Lynwood (grades 1-5 only) Elementary Schools
• Back to School Night: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Sinaloa Middle School
