BART Gets Nearly $9 Million For Security Projects

The money was awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency following a competitive selection process.​

BART officials will be getting nearly $9 million for two security projects meant to protect the system against potential threats, according to a recent announcement.

BART was awarded $8,798,769 for projects to protect the Transbay Tube and for a Critical Asset Patrol Team that protects the Critical Asset Corridor, which is a passageway connecting San Francisco and Oakland.

The corridor contains critical infrastructure as well as the passengers traveling at predictable times in the Transbay Tube.

A total of $7.5 million will be spread among projects to protect the tube while the eight-member patrol team will receive $1,298,769. The money was awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency following a competitive selection process.
