Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco Welcomes New Board Members

Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco announces the election of four new members to Habitat’s Board of Directors, including Rob Hollister of The Sobrato Organization, Carl Shannon of Tishman Speyer, Lydia Tan of Bentall Kennedy, and Brand Strategist Consultant, Hilary Billings.

Habitat Greater San Francisco’s Board of Directors consists of 21 members who serve one to two three-year terms. The Board is responsible for ensuring fiduciary oversight and organizational strength to guide Habitat Greater San Francisco’s efforts to strengthen communities, restore homes, revitalize local neighborhoods and invest in the quest for community members to become homeowners.

“We are honored to welcome these four distinguished members to our Board of Directors,” said Nancy Murray, Habitat board chair. “The combined real estate savviness and professional experience of our incoming Board members further poise our organization for substantial growth in our efforts to keep hard-working families living in the Bay Area and remaining in their communities through Habitat’s proven model of building home ownership partnerships.”

Rob Hollister, president of real estate at The Sobrato Organization: Hollister currently oversees The Sobrato Organization’s commercial and residential real estate activities, including 15 million square feet of existing properties and a development pipeline valued at more than $1 billion. Hollister earned a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and is a member of the Stanford Real Estate Council.

Carl Shannon, senior managing director at Tishman Speyer: Shannon is responsible for Tishman Speyer’s portfolio in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest. Under Shannon’s leadership, Tishman Speyer has developed more units of affordable housing in San Francisco than any other company, exceeded only by the nonprofit housing developers. Shannon received both an AB, magna cum laude, and MBA, with high honors from Harvard University.

Lydia Tan, senior vice president at Bentall Kennedy: Tan is responsible for Bentall Kennedy’s development activity in the western region of the United States. Tan has more than 30 years of experience in multi-family developments, and she has had key involvement in several large-scale, multi-block public/private redevelopment efforts in San Francisco, Oakland and Palo Alto. Tan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Hilary Billings, Brand Strategy Advisor: Billings is currently a brand strategy consultant specializing in creating lifestyle brands. Her projects have included the development of new brands and brand extensions for large companies such as, Walmart, Crate & Barrel, and Hallmark, as well as defining brand strategies for startup companies such as, Minted, Hayneedle and Pinkberry. Billings holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and English from Brown University.
