Peninsula Police Officer Fatally Shoots Man, DA To Investigate
The shooting happened on Wednesday afternoon in Daly City and is under investigation by the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

DALY CITY, CA — A Daly City police officer fatally shot a man on Wednesday afternoon, police said. The shooting is under investigation by the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.
According to police, the officer fired his service weapon and struck an "unidentified man" after he contacted people in the 700 block of Niantic Avenue just before 2 p.m.
The man was taken to a local trauma center after officers provided medical aid, but he died from his injuries.

Police did not provide further details about the incident. On Wednesday afternoon, the Daly City Police Twitter account posted about "police activity," asking people to avoid the area, adding there was no threat to the public.
