When is the First Day of School in Pacifica?

Of course, the calendar just turned over to August and families are smack in the middle of enjoying summer vacations. 

But, back-to-school commercials hawking new clothes are already being shown on TV and that time of year is really just around the corner. 

So, even though you are most likely still heading to the beach and pool, soaking up those rays of summer, here are some important things to know when it comes to the 2013-14 calendars for Pacifica School District and Pacifica-area high schools.

• First Day of School for Terra Nova and Oceana high schools: Tuesday, Aug. 13
• First Day of School for Pacifica School District: Wednesday, Aug. 28
• Freshman Orientation: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6
• High School Registration: Wednesday, Aug. 7 (8 to 10 a.m. for sophomores, 10 a.m. to noon for juniors and 1-3 p.m. for seniors)
  
• Picture Retakes: Aug. 15 for high school students
• Orientation Day: 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 23 for all 6th graders and new students at Ingrid B. Lacey Middle School 
• First Day Packet Pickup: 1-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 for returning students at Ingrid B. Lacey Middle School 
• Back To School Night: 6-7:30  p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at Cabrillo and Ortega schools
