Abandoned Fetus Not a Crime, Police Say
Investigators say it was a medical matter that led to a fetus being found in a public area at Desert Regional Medical Center.

No criminal charges are anticipated against a woman whose fetus was found at a Palm Springs hospital last week, police said today.
The fetus was discovered last Wednesday morning by hospital staff in a public area at Desert Regional Medical Center at 1150 N. Indian Canyon Drive.

Investigators interviewed the woman, whose name was withheld, and determined it was a medical matter, Kovaleff said.
”(The Palm Springs Police Department) is not able to provide any further information at this time due to the sensitive privacy issues associated with this type of incident,” Kovaleff said.

Police said the case would remain open until the coroner’s office completes its investigation.
