City Opens Rancho Mirage Dog Park
More than a decade ago, then Mayor Dana Hobart voiced his vision for a dog park to allow Rancho Mirage residents and their pooches to play.

From the City of Rancho Mirage:
RANCHO MIRAGE, CA - One major reason why Rancho Mirage is such a special community is the variety of amenities afforded to our residents. We have one of the best public libraries in the country. Our new amphitheater in the recently renovated Rancho Mirage Community Park has elicited praise for its design and contribution in the area of culture and arts in the Coachella Valley. The many concerts, most of which were free of charge, were an overwhelming success. We now have yet another amenity that is sure to generate instant popularity.
Last Wednesday, the City officially opened the Rancho Mirage Dog Park. It was a fantastic event commemorating the opening of its first and only public dog park. Guests and their four-legged friends eagerly awaited entry as those that assisted with the project were acknowledged and the dedication plaque was unveiled. Once inside, owners and dogs alike took pleasure in exploring the new space. Indeed, this was a special moment for Rancho Mirage as it marked the conclusion of a long journey.

More than a decade ago, then Mayor Dana Hobart voiced his vision for a dog park that would allow Rancho Mirage residents and their pooches the opportunity to gather and play. Over the years that vision began to gain momentum and after years of thoughtful planning, transformed into a beautiful addition to our City.
The 4.5-acre park features separate areas for large and small dogs and a decorative perimeter fence with double locking gates to keep our companions safe from escape. The park has water fountains for your best friend(s) and us humans too. There is also a lighted perimeter walkway along the exterior of the fence that will allow pet owners to get in some exercise of their own while at the park - just over four (4) laps around is equal to one (1) mile.

The park is open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, has 24 lighted parking stalls, and shaded seating areas. A number of benches were kindly donated by the Rancho Mirage Rotary Club.
I hope you and your dogs come, "sit", and "stay" and enjoy the brand new Rancho Mirage Dog Park for years to come. Our new park is yet another reason the 92270 zip code is so very special and the city of choice to live and work.
