Community Action Partnership Seeks Applicants For CAP Commission

Community Action Partnership of Riverside County is seeking applicants for a position on its commission that will serve as the low-income representative for District 4. The low-income representative will be chosen by a virtual election of voters in District 4 on July 19. Anyone interested in the position must submit their application by 10 a.m. on June 30.

Those interested in the low-income seat must live in District 4 and should be members of the low-income community. Candidates need not themselves be low-income; however, preference in selection shall be given to low-income individuals. District 4 includes the cities of Blythe, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage. The district also includes the unincorporated communities of Bermuda Dunes, Chiriaco Summit, Colorado River Communities, Desert Center, Lake Tamarisk, Eagle Mountain, Desert Edge, Desert Palms, Indio Hills, Mecca, Mesa Verde, North Shore, Oasis, Ripley, Sky Valley, Thermal, Thousand Palms and Vista Santa Rosa.

The Community Action Commission meets on the third Thursday of every month (no meetings in August and December). During COVID-19 pandemic, the meetings are virtual. Commissioners are volunteers who are dedicated to the mission of community action and are willing to participate on various committees and commission activities to serve low-income individuals.
