Coronavirus Infections Reported In Desert Sands USD
District students have been learning remotely since the start of fall semester due to the pandemic, but staff have been on campuses.
COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — The Desert Sands Unified School District has temporarily shuttered three of its schools due to several reported coronavirus infections among office staff, officials said.
District spokeswoman Mary Perry said Friday there were four reported cases in total at Palm Desert High School, Summit High School and Horizon School.
Office staff at the three schools were urged to quarantine for two weeks and work from home.

"Because there will be no office staff or administration on campus, teachers have been directed to teach from home and all athletic conditioning has been suspended," Perry said.
Two members of the office staff at Summit High School and Horizon School — both of which share a single campus — tested positive, along with two at Palm Desert High School, Perry said.
