Daytime Construction Work On I-10 Scheduled In Coachella Valley

Portions of both west and eastbound I-10 are scheduled to be reduced from four lanes to one at multiple bridges starting Thursday.

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — A Caltrans bridge-fixing project moving eastward on Interstate 10 could snarl daytime traffic in the eastern Coachella Valley starting Thursday.

Portions of both west and eastbound I-10 are scheduled to be reduced from four lanes to one at multiple bridges from Thursday to Saturday, Caltrans officials said.

The work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

First up is eastbound I-10 at 44th Avenue in Indio on Thursday, then westbound I-10 at Cotton Gulch on Friday, followed by the eastern side of Cotton Gulch on Saturday.

Work will continue to move eastward toward Blythe and the Arizona state line, said Philip Havins, a Caltrans District 8 public information officer, although he said the contractor might need to revisit previous work locations in the future.
