Desert Healthcare Grants Over $140K to Angel View Outreach
The Desert Healthcare District recently approved a $144,600 grant to assist Angel View with its stabilization program.

The Desert Healthcare District recently approved a $144,600 grant to assist Angel View with its stabilization program for families raising children with disabilities, announced Patti Park, executive director of Angel View.
Angel View provides free services and support to several hundred local children with disabilities and relies on community support to fund many of the programs. This grant will fund a new full-time staff position for two years and help defray other program costs in order for Angel View to provide much needed one-on-one case management assistance to families that need extra assistance.

“Prior to receiving this grant, Angel View has been limited in our ability to offer case management,” said Park. “We are grateful that the Desert Healthcare Districts sees the importance of our Outreach program and has generously assisted us in helping us expand to meet community need.”
“We were unanimous in our support of Angel View Outreach,” said William J. Grimm, D.O., president of Desert Healthcare District’s Board of Directors. “One of the District’s goals is to advance health outcomes and we know our investment in this program will make a real difference for local children with disabilities.”

Angel View Outreach was launched in 2012 to help families raising children with disabilities through difficult circumstances. Bilingual outreach specialists meet with parents, assess their needs, and after verifying the children’s medical conditions with their physicians, offer various forms of support including assisting with referrals and applications for services, offering mini grants for medial supplies, services and equipment not covered by insurance, as well as offering support groups and sponsorships so children with disabilities can participate in sports and recreational activities.
Additionally, many Angel View clients must travel to and from Loma Linda for specialty pediatric care, which can be costly. Angel View Outreach offers a mileage reimbursement program so that appointments are not missed due to families’ financial constraints.
In a typical year, Angel View Outreach assists 400 local children with disabilities, covers the cost of transportation to more than 800 appointments with specialists in Loma Linda, awards 60 mini-grants and 100 activity sponsorships.
Founded in 1954, Angel View offers three primary services: 24-hour residential care for children and adults with disabilities, a therapeutic Day Program for adults with developmental disabilities; and Angel View Outreach.
