Riverside County House Fire Displaces 5 Elderly People

A total of five elderly people were forced to flee a home fire in Desert Hot Springs, authorities said Sunday morning.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA -- A total of five elderly people were forced to flee a home fire in Desert Hot Springs, Cal FIRE and Riverside County Fire Dept. authorities said Sunday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze in the 65000 block of Acoma Avenue in Desert Hot Springs after the house burst into flames just before 11:20 p.m. Saturday, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Smoke and fire was seen coming from the back of the single family dwelling, fire officials said.

Palm Springs firefighters joined the battle just before midnight and the fire was contained at 12:30 am, fire authorities say.
