Eisenhower Medical Launches 'Epic' Electronic Health Record System
"Eisenhower now has the opportunity to present a seamless patient experience across our health system," says David Perez.

From Eisenhower Medical Center: A transformational technological upgrade took place at Eisenhower Medical Center on July 1 when Eisenhower Medical Center launched Epic, a state-of-the-art electronic health record system that integrates numerous systems across the organization.
Facing the coming “sunset” of applications that were in use at the Medical Center, Eisenhower’s executive leadership team had to choose an electronic health record system that would grow and adapt with the organization in coming years. Administrators, physicians, staff and the Medical Center board chose to move forward with Epic for its patient-friendly technologies and for its invaluable coordination of information technology systems across the health system. Eisenhower Health Centers across the valley and Eisenhower Hospital now share all systems, including those for ancillary areas, such as radiology, rehabilitation services pharmacy, laboratory and billing, as well as service lines like cardiology and orthopedics.
The installation of Epic was the culmination of more than a year of discovery; planning and communication among physicians and employees; and training on the new systems. “We could not have achieved this successful transition without the dedication of our Epic implementation team, our physicians and all of our staff who have embraced this change with enthusiasm and dedication,” says G. Aubrey Serfling, President and Chief Executive Officer, Eisenhower Medical Center.

“Eisenhower now has the opportunity to present a seamless patient experience across our health system,” says David Perez, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Eisenhower Medical Center. “The Epic system is efficient, which will please both patients and employees. We want to provide high quality health care and because Epic is among the best systems in the country, it will allow better delivery of that care to our patients.”
“Patients will experience a more seamless system — with less repetition of filling out the same forms in multiple physician offices — and easier access to their electronic health record from different areas of the health system,” adds Perez. “Patients will also have a new way of accessing their health record online, they will be able to pay bills online, they can request appointments online and much more. This is an exciting advancement for Eisenhower and health care in the valley.”
