Fatality Reported On Highway 111 In Palm Springs
The incident was reported around 6:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
PALM SPRINGS, CA — A female driver was killed Tuesday morning when she lost control of her SUV on state Route 111 in Palm Springs and careened off the highway.
The solo-vehicle crash was reported at approximately 6:45 a.m., south of Overture Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jackie Quintero.
The driver was traveling at an unknown speed in a 1999 Ford Explorer on the southbound side of the highway when she lost control and veered onto the roadway's right shoulder. The SUV crashed into a cable fence and overturned, landing on its wheels in the dirt shoulder, Quintero said.

The driver was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Palm Springs Fire Department, Quintero said.
The driver's identity has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.

Alcohol and/or drugs have not been ruled out as a possible crash factor, Quintero said.
Traffic was slow near the area while crews investigated.
