Dr. Biden's efforts to support military families have been ongoing for more than a decade. Before her husband became vice president in 2008, she volunteered in her home state of Delaware with Boots on the Ground, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting military spouses.

During the Obama years, Dr. Biden partnered with then-First Lady Michelle Obama in the Joining Forces campaign, which supports military families in the form of education, employment, health and wellness.
