FootGolf 'Ryder Cup' Debuts at Desert Willow Golf Resort

The competition will take place May 22-24 at Desert Willow- the home course of the American FootGolf League.

From the City of Palm Desert: Originally conceived in 1927 as a battle of golf's best from Great Britain and the United States, The Ryder Cup has become of of golf's preeminent events. Ninety years later on May 22, the United Kingdom and United States will commence a new competition also staged on a golf course- FootGolf's first Jansen Cup to be played at the City of Palm Desert's Desert Willow Golf Resort.

The Jansen Cup will pit the top U.S FootGolf players, including the FIFG World Cup Champions, against Footgolf's first European Champions from the United Kingdom. Both teams set stringent qualification criteria with only 24 players selected by their national organizations for this inaugural event, which honors Micheal Jansen, one of the creators of the sport of FootGolf, who will be in attendance at the event.

"At FootGolf's inception in the Netherlands in 2009, I wouldn't have dreamed that in 2017 I would be attending its future in America," said Jansen. "I'm honored for the opportunity to witness a milestone in the sport that would be nowhere without the pioneers from the UK and USA. Two countries, one team, FootGolf will be the winner."
