Funeral Services for Slain Palm Springs Officers Announced
A public memorial service is planned at Palm Springs Convention Center.

PALM SPRINGS, CA - Officials have announced a dual public memorial service in honor of two Palm Springs police officers killed in the line of duty.
The service for Officers Jose 'Gil' Vega and Lesley Zerebny will be held next Tuesday at the Palm Springs Convention Center at 11 a.m. Vega and Zerebny were killed Saturday after responding to a family disturbance call at a Palm Springs home.
Immediately following the service, a graveside service for Vega will be held at the Coachella Valley Public Cemetery in Coachella. Zerebny's graveside services will be held at a private location and will only be open to family members.

Vega, 63, was with the department for 35 years– five years past his retirement eligibility– and had planned to finish his career in December. Zerebny, 27, was with the department for a year and a half and she had just returned to duty from maternity leave after the birth of a daughter four months ago.
The alleged shooter, John Hernandez Felix, 26, was arrested Sunday by Riverside County sheriff's deputies following a 12-hour standoff at his home.

The Palm Springs Convention Center is located at 277 North Avenida Caballeros.
