Government Buildings In Indio, Coachella Set To Reopen Next Week

INDIO, CA — The cities of Coachella and Indio announced that government buildings will reopen to the public this week with certain COVID-19 safety protocols in place.
On Monday, appointments no longer will be required to enter city facilities in Coachella, though all visitors will be required to wear masks.
"We will reopen all city facilities as of Monday," Coachella City Manager Gabriel Martin said in a news release. "We also want to remind the public that our City offices moved from Downtown City Hall to the Civic Center right before the pandemic. What you will find at the Downtown City Hall are local non-profits that support our community."

Those looking for help from the City Administration, Finance, Code Enforcement, Engineering, Planning, Building and Safety and Business License departments can visit the City Civic Center at 53990 Enterprise Way.
For Public Works, Parks and Recreation and the Coachella Water and Sanitary District, residents can visit the Coachella Corporate Yard at 53462 Enterprise Way.

While residents will still be able to pay their water bills electronically, in-person payment will resume at 1515 Sixth St. and the Civic Center.
There was no word on if the Coachella City Council was planning to resume in-person meetings.
In Indio, officials said starting on Tuesday, in-person city hall and counter services will resume and be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Social distancing and mask mandates will be in place, and city officials suggested the public continue using online services if possible.
The lobbies of the Indio Water Authority and Indio Police Department also are set to reopen on Tuesday, while the Indio Senior Center is set to reopen on June 21.
No timeline for reconvening in-person meetings of the Indio City Council has been announced. The meetings are currently streamed online.
Most state-imposed distancing and capacity limitations will be rescinded Tuesday, with a few restrictions continuing for "mega events," defined as indoor concerts with 5,000 or more people, and outdoor gatherings with 10,000 or more attendees, officials said.
